ABEC stands for Annular Bearing Engineers’ Committee. ABEC classes describe specified manufacturing tolerances for bearings. They are useful technical labels, but they do not rate every quality that matters when a bearing is used in a skateboard.
What ABEC 5 and ABEC 7 tell you
ABEC 7 specifies tighter dimensional tolerances than ABEC 5 within the standard. That difference alone does not prove that an ABEC 7 skateboard bearing will roll faster, last longer or suit your setup better. ABEC does not, by itself, describe the bearing’s materials, lubrication, shields, impact performance, installation or maintenance.
How to compare DSCO ABEC sets
The current DSCO ABEC 5 and ABEC 7 product listings both describe sets of eight and list chromium-steel balls and removable rubber shields. Compare the product pages for their full current contents and availability. Choose based on the information that matters to your setup, rather than assuming the higher number guarantees a better ride.
